Ministering Near and Far!
Foreign MinistriesOur focus in foreign missions is Guatemala in Central America. Each January, members travel on a medical mission to Clinica Ezell, which is operated by Health Talents International in the western coastal region of Guatemala. Through the Health Talents International ABC Program, we sponsor six children in Guatemala. Four Bible classes of our children and teens each sponsor one boy and one girl of their own age group, and correspond with the sponsored children.

Teaching MinistryIn addition to Sunday morning classes and sermons, and Wednesday evening classes, our members teach via correspondence courses to prisoners and to the interested public by correspondence or online.

Family and Youth MinistryRugby’s Family and Youth ministry partners with parents to help children grow in their relationship with Christ and knowledge of the word of God. Together we seek to equip our children to value God’s truth and to find ways to glorify and serve in His kingdom. In addition to regular Sunday and Wednesday bible classes, we participate in other activities throughout the year to include youth rallies (Winterfest, Powerhouse), Vacation Bible School, camping, amusement parks, lock-ins, and hiking.

Food MinistryRugby Avenue supports the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank with our volunteer time and monthly food donations. The items requested by the food bank change on a monthly basis, and we support Potter Children's Home in June instead:
January - canned vegetables February - spaghetti sauce March - mac-n-cheese April - baby food, formula and diapers May - cereal June - paper products (Potter Home) July - canned vegetables August - school snacks, packs of crackers, fruit cups September - peanut butter October - canned tuna/chicken November - soups, stews and chili December - pasta and rice |
Education MinistryThe education program at Rugby Avenue has many age-appropriate goals.
For the young we teach Biblical morality and basic Bible literacy using interactive curricula. We also desire to help students form bonds across the different age groups of the church family, as this adds to the desire to return to church each week. Older elementary school lesson plans focus students to develop deeper knowledge of Biblical chronology and geography. At the junior high level, we seek to provide a deep encounter with Jesus and to challenge each student to seek Christ, be baptized into Christ, and commit to following Christ for life. The gospel books of the New Testament are the curriculum focus at this age. The high school classes include more mature Biblical studies with an emphasis on learning to live as a Christian and developing a Christian world view. Christian apologetics to strengthen faith are included at this age, as well as teaching the beliefs and practices that the Restoration Movement has attempted to restore to Christianity. |

God is all Powerful, Knowing and Caring! |
Our Faith Comes First. We believe that Christ Jesus is the Son of God born of man. He is our Redeemer and it is by our repentance, confession and immersion that we are brought into the fold of relationship with God. It is through this that the work of God through the Spirit of the Son can transform our lives to be about God and not ourselves.

We Promise You our Best.
|
We, even as a family of believers, experience the same struggles as the world. But by the power of the Spirit through Jesus Christ we have a HOPE! We Promise to give you our best, which isn't ours at all, but the gift of the Spirit that by our being bound together in Christ can spur one another along in faith, love, kindness, hope, joy, peace, patience and self control.
